Questions

Questions and answers

What happens after I contact Tipdart Plumbing?

We note the basics about your problem and your home, then connect you with an independent provider who serves your area. The provider contacts you to confirm details and set a time. After looking at the problem, they give you a written price before any larger work begins.

How soon can a plumber come out?

It depends on the provider's schedule, the time of day and how busy things are after a storm or cold snap. Many providers can respond quickly to urgent problems. Ask about timing when you reach out. If water is spreading, shut off the main valve while you wait and move anything valuable away from the leak.

Which plumbing jobs can I do myself?

Replacing a toilet flapper, tightening a loose slip nut or plunging a single clogged drain are usually fine. Leave it to a provider if the leak is hidden, involves the water heater or sewer line, or needs pipe cut or soldered. A mistake there can cost more than the repair.

How do I compare two plumbing quotes?

Line them up side by side. Check that both cover the same work, parts and permit fees. Look at warranty terms and what happens if more damage turns up. A low number is not a good deal if it leaves things out.

What are the early signs of a hidden leak?

A higher water bill with no change in use, a meter that moves when nothing is running, musty smells under the house, stains on ceilings and floors that feel soft. Catching a leak early usually means a smaller repair.

Will insurance pay for plumbing damage?

It depends on your policy. Some policies may cover sudden damage, like a burst pipe, but not slow leaks or wear. Check your policy and talk to your insurer. Providers can often help you document damage with photos and notes.

How can I prevent frozen pipes?

Insulate pipes in crawl spaces and outside walls, disconnect garden hoses before cold weather, and close crawl space vents during a hard freeze. On very cold nights, let a faucet on an outside wall drip slowly and open cabinet doors under sinks.

Do I have to hire the provider?

No. There is no obligation. You can ask questions, compare quotes or wait. The provider runs their own business, and any agreement for work is between you and them. Tipdart Plumbing does not charge you for the referral.
